Geo-Environmental  Engineering

SolidEarth Geotechnical is experienced in the geotechnical and environmental aspects of man-made earthen containment systems (including landfills, lagoons, and contaminated material storage facilities) as well as wastewater disposal fields.  We provide engineering solutions to municipalities, MDs/counties, developers, and oil and gas operators in the design and permitting of new facilities and assessment and rehabilitation of existing facilities.

Our services include:

Landfill Design and Permitting

Our engineering design team is very familiar with applicable regulations and requirements. Whether a new site or a planned expansion, our approach is to maximize airspace and minimize capital cost.  The design is completed in conjunction with phased development and operation plans that optimize land-use, surface-water control features, and traffic considerations.

Landfill Closure

Closure plans are developed with four main goals, (i) optimizing the use of available material, (ii) minimizing earthwork operations, (iii) maintaining acceptable long-term slopes and surface water control features, (iv) and minimizing the long-term liability of the owner/operator.

Secondary Containment Liners for Oil Storage Tanks and Tank Farms

We design and implement a field investigation and laboratory testing program aimed at evaluating the soil and groundwater conditions at the site. The program evaluates the presence of a natural clay buffer and assesses the suitability of local materials for the construction of compacted clay liner.  Our services include assessing physical properties of soils that affects its hydraulic conductivity, soil permeability testing, liner configuration, construction requirements, and hydraulic equivalency modeling.

In-situ Wastewater Disposal Field

We evaluate soil treatment and percolation capacities, as well as wastewater disposal system design requirements and restrictions.
