Edmonton Area Oil & Gas Facility Upgrades and Expansion

SolidEarth completed a geotechnical investigation for an expansion to an existing oil and gas facility near Bruderheim, Alberta. The expansion consisted of the design and construction of diluent recovery unit (DRU). The project included major earthwork and grading operations, large above ground storage tanks, heavy industrial foundations, various buildings and pipe racks, and water storage facilities.

Engineering evaluation included suitability of the existing soils for re-use as engineered fill and the need for subgrade soil replacement or modification; frost susceptibility of the subgrade soils; requirements for subgrade preparation and anticipated challenges; construction recommendations for retaining ponds and above ground storage tanks; and foundation systems requirements for buildings, tanks, and pipe support racks.
