Spruce Grove Water Reservoir and Pump Station
Project Location: City of Spruce Grove
SolidEarth was part of a consulting team led by ISL Engineering and Land Services Ltd. that was retained in 2015 by the City of Spruce Grove to design an expansion to their existing Zone 1 reservoir and pump station system. The purpose of this expansion was to allow for additional storage capacity which accommodates for future growth. SolidEarth served as the geotechnical consultant on the project and completed the geotechnical investigation and materials testing during construction.
The project consisted of the design and construction of a 19,500 cu.m. water reservoir and pump station. The reservoir was located completely underground, with the base of the reservoir approximately 6 m below ground surface. This project is the single largest capital project undertaken by the City of Spruce Grove to date.
SolidEarth provided geotechnical recommendations for the reservoir design and construction, short and long-term and groundwater management, and for the stability of the excavation side slopes. SolidEarth also completed the geotechnical inspections and materials testing during the construction phase.
